Biography/ Professional summary
Marjia Akhter Monika is an alumna of the 7th Batch of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sylhet Agricultural University. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sylhet Agricultural University. Her academic and research work focuses on plant genetics, crop breeding, plant biotechnology, genetic diversity, tissue culture, and conservation of plant genetic resources.
Her research contributions include studies on genetic diversity of squash genotypes, management of country bean diseases in Bangladesh, and ex-situ conservation of the endangered medicinal plant Andrographis paniculata through plant tissue culture. Through her teaching and research, she contributes to crop improvement, plant disease management, medicinal plant conservation, and the advancement of genetics and plant breeding education at SAU.
