Biography/ Professional summary

Kishore Kumar Sarker is an alumnus of the 1st Batch of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sylhet Agricultural University. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sylhet Agricultural University and is pursuing his Ph.D. at Kobe University, Japan, as a doctoral student in the Brassica Group of the Horticultural Crop Propagation Laboratory.

He completed his M.S. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Sylhet Agricultural University and later expanded his academic journey through international study and research experiences in Europe and Asia, including Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy; Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia; Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium; and Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. His current doctoral research focuses on Brassica genetics, early developmental heterosis, and genomic loci associated with Chinese cabbage improvement.

His research contributions cover plant genetics, crop breeding, plant biotechnology, tissue culture, in vitro regeneration, genetic diversity, Brassica improvement, squash breeding, plant biodiversity conservation, and epigenetic regulation in horticultural crops. He has presented his doctoral research at international scientific meetings, including the Plant Reproductive Development and Genomics Conference in Awaji, Japan, and the Japanese Society of Breeding Conference in Hokkaido, where he shared work on genomic loci underlying early developmental heterosis in Chinese cabbage. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to crop improvement, global research collaboration, and advancing plant breeding science.
