Biography/ Professional summary

Khadeza Yasmin is an alumna of the 2nd Batch of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sylhet Agricultural University. She serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Soil Science at Sylhet Agricultural University and is currently on study leave pursuing her Ph.D. in the Department of Science and Environmental Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. She received the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme and Belt and Road Scholarship, supporting her doctoral research journey in Hong Kong.

Her research focuses on heavy metal pollution, soil contamination, remediation, bioavailability, human health risk assessment, soil nutrient dynamics, soil microbiology, biochar, and agricultural sustainability. Her doctoral work investigates the occurrence, mobility, bioavailability, and human health risks of heavy metals in rice-based agroecosystems in Narsingdi, Bangladesh. Her publications include work on heavy metal exposure from rice, simultaneous immobilization of metalloids and metals in agricultural systems, mungbean performance in acid soil, soil nutrient transport, and sustainable management of invasive plant species.

Beyond research, Khadeza’s story reflects perseverance, balance, and courage as a scholar, teacher, mother, and international Ph.D. student. Her journey from SAU to Hong Kong represents dedication to soil science, environmental health, and the development of safer, more sustainable agricultural systems.
